Some May Say "Hardly-A-Davidson", But Scooters And Mopeds Are Here To Stay
Written by Head Guru

With record high gas prices hitting an average of $4.08 per gallon, consumers are left to either cope with the high gas prices, or try alternative modes of transportation.  Many Americans are beginning to think outside the box and jumping on a scooter or a moped.

Scooters and Mopeds are becoming the rage in the United States this year.  In the past, scooters and mopeds were considered the mode of transportation for the struggling college student.  Not any more.  Many scooter and moped dealers in the U.S. are finding themselves out of stock for 2008 because of the enormous increase in demand for these vehicles in the U.S.  Students, professionals, housewives and other economically savvy Americans are saving hundreds of dollars a month by switching their transportation to stylish and fun scooters and mopeds.
"The times they are a changin" as Bob Dylan would say.

For many years the cost of fuel was artificially low in North America and many consumers did not give much thought on how to reduce their dependence on motor fuel. As the auto manufacturers are painfully aware, consumer preferences are moving away from gas-guzzling SUV’s.  While moving to a smaller car makes sense, it can still cost you over $50 to fill up one of these vehicles.  There are even more energy-efficient means for transportation that can save you many dollars a week and add fun and excitement to your commute or short trips around town.
Trips around town and short commutes using a scooter or a moped can use little or NO gas.  Advances in technology have made it possible for consumers to have the choice between EPA certified, low-emission gasoline operated or even more eco-friendly electric scooters and mopeds.

Not just for kids any more.

With gas models getting 60+ miles per gallon and electric models getting 75+ miles per charge, it is becoming main-stream and convenient to own a scooter or a moped.  Whether you have a 25 mile each-way commute or just running to the hardware or grocery store, it makes sense to start getting around on a scooter or a moped.  In Europe and Asia, where gas prices have been high for years, this has caught on a long time ago.  A recent study in the U.S. has shown that almost 50% of consumers would be will to shift 40% or more of their weekly mileage to a scooter or a moped.

The impact on our environment and national security by reducing our dependence on fossil fuels is just as impressive.  The Department of Energy has determined that if Americans were to utilize one of the latest eco-friendly scooters or mopeds available in the market today, they could, in aggregate, reduce national fuel consumption by 14 million gallons of gasoline per day and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 324 million pounds per day.

Save yourself money, protect the environment and join the fun by hopping on your own scooter or moped today.
